According to Dwyer, the recently acquired land is located across the street from the ProLogis Park 70-Etna and backs up to I-70.
“The acquisition of this additional acreage was a key component for ProLogis’ future expansion in the Etna area,” Dwyer said. “Its close proximity to local airports and freeways makes it an attractive location for regional distribution centers,” he said.
Currently, ProLogis is developing Phase I of the ProLogis Park 70-Etna, a 220 acre master-planned park offering strategic access to major roadways as well as Port Columbus International Airport and the new Rickenbacker Intermodal Terminal. Comprised of three buildings that make up 1.6 million square feet, the park is currently being expanded to accommodate an additional 2.1 million square feet. A full build out of the park will feature five facilities comprising 3.7 million square feet.
Brian Marsh, senior vice president and regional head of operations said the acquisition of the land at US 40 and National Road provides additional opportunities in Central Ohio to build bulk distribution facilities in addition to the 3.7 million square feet it will already operate here.
“Our acquisition of an additional 97 acres across the street from the ProLogis Park 70-Etna will provide an opportunity to expand our initial project,” Marsh said. “Phase II of the ProLogis Park 70-Etna will include two buildings comprised of more than 1.3 million square feet.”
While no specific time frame for construction on Phase II is planned, it could be as early as this year according to Marsh.
“The site is zoned and ready for immediate development so we are ready to move on the build out of the 97 acres for Phase II if a user approaches us and has a need for that space immediately,” Marsh said.
