| HISTORY |
 |
Gerald C. Finn, who had long been active in central New Jersey real
estate development, incorporated New America Network, Inc in 1978.
The vision underlying the creation of NAI was to establish an organization
of leading independent commercial real estate brokerage companies
to provide enhanced services to the commercial and institutional
real estate markets. Since that time, NAI has grown to become a
globally branded commercial real estate services company representing
major multinational clients including:
• Airborne
Express
• ALCOA
• Hertz
• International Paper
• Pepsi Bottling Group, Inc.
• United States Postal Service
NAI now has
a professional staff of more than 50 people in its New Jersey Headquarters
and around the world, and its mission has broadened beyond a national
organization of commercial real estate professionals to become a
global service delivery platform.
NAI’s
business vision is to provide global reach through offices in leading
markets throughout the world and the local touch that only locally
owned companies in those markets can provide. To this combination
of global reach and local touch, NAI adds a central organization
and management system along with a cutting-edge technology base
to deliver consistently excellent service to clients, whether their
real estate needs are, around the corner, or around the world. |

| PIONEER
IN INDUSTRY |
 |
When NAI was formed, the commercial real estate market was a highly
localized, parochial business with little cooperation, communication
or business flowing between or among companies. NAI recognized that
a national and global marketplace supported by standardized state-of-the-art
processes would create efficiencies for property owners, investors
and corporate real estate users. NAI set out as an organization
to help create and serve that emerging demand for multi-market commercial
real estate services. While others followed either a “chain”
(single ownership) or a “co-operative” (shared ownership
of existing independent companies with a central driver) model for
providing real estate services in a number of markets, NAI created
a hybrid organization that combines the strength and control of
a centralized corporate structure with the deep local knowledge,
energy and client focus of entrepreneurial, locally owned real estate
companies. NAI’s unique model now successfully manages a network
of 150 brokerage companies operating out of 270 offices in 33 countries
around the world.

| PIONEER
IN CORPORATE SERVICES |
 |
In the early 1980’s, recognizing that it had an incredible
resource in its national delivery system, NAI began to engineer
a service model specifically designed to provide single source access
to managers of large, geographically diverse real estate portfolios
and requirements. This corporate services approach focused on long-term
customer service and managing tens or hundreds of projects simultaneously.
NAI staffed
a corporate services group to develop and manage client relationships
and ensure the delivery of transaction management services to its
corporate services clients. NAI’s corporate services approach
includes both account executives, who are the client’s single
point of accountability, and a team of account managers, who manage
and report on all ongoing transactions. To ensure the national and
international delivery of the highest quality services, NAI also
organized regional managing directors, who are charged with building
and managing the quality of service delivered by NAI’s brokers.
With this delivery system and management infrastructure in place,
NAI has been able to represent clients such as Hertz, Pepsi and
Airborne Express on a continuous basis for more than the past decade.

| PIONEER
IN CORPORATE SERVICES |
 |
NAI has always put a premium on the early adoption of cutting-edge
technology as a means of speeding communications, delivering the
highest quality services to clients and facilitating the sharing
of best practices among its member brokers. Beginning in the early
1980’s, NAI implemented a computerized transaction management
system to track and report on the thousands of transactions it was
then managing for corporate and institutional clients. Those early
mainframe-based systems developed over time and allowed NAI to act
as a virtual real estate department for clients, managing portfolios
and transactions, and providing comprehensive reports on all developments
for ongoing acquisition and disposition assignments.
In the early
1990’s, NAI developed its proprietary REALTrac™ transaction
management system, which allowed NAI’s corporate services
team to track, manage and report on hundreds and thousands of ongoing
transactions for NAI’s corporate clients.
Beginning in
1995, NAI released an Internet-enabled version of REALTrac™.
REALTrac™ Online was launched by NAI Direct in spring 2000,
was immediately put into service by NAI members and clients, and
was quickly recognized by industry experts as a hit. REALTrac™
Online was featured by both Inman News and Site Selection magazine’s
“Online Insider” shortly after its launch, and was cited
by the PikeNet Dispatch, a commercial real estate technology newsletter,
as one of “Pike’s Picks for 2000.”
In 2001, NAI
refined REALTrac™ Online with its first major revision, Version
2.0, which added greater speed, scope and flexibility, including
improved calendar functions, item level security and easier project
initiation. REALTrac™ Online has managed thousands of transactions
over the past decade and is the active platform for management of
all NAI client transactions. It also is available as an ASP to corporate
and institutional real estate users for portfolio and transaction
management. Currently, more than 3,000 NAI agents and 5,000 clients
rely on REALTrac ™ Online to facilitate transaction and portfolio
management.
